Anna's Birth

I wanted to start off by saying how appreciative I am to you all for
your guidance and support throughout my pregnancy and how much it
helped me get my head straight for this wonderful birth I had!

Anna was born May 8th, weighing 9 pounds and was 21 inches long.  She
was induced 8 days early because I was measuring so large... good thing
we didn't wait!!!

Labor was 6 hours, using Pitocin.  I had an epidural cath placed just
in case I had a difficult time with the feeling.  I ended up using it,
but it was not anything like when I had one with my first son. That
time, I was literally paralyzed from the waist down and hated it.  (I
had no medication with my 2nd, and I felt totally out of control and
tense).  With this epi, I could feel pressure, I could move, and I felt
some pain in my right side- but nothing I could not deal with.  It
really just took the edge off for me.

This time, however, I had HypBirth to help me out.  And it DID help
soooo much!  My DH said it looked like I was sleeping and he couldn't
believe it when he looked at the monitor to see that I was having huge
surges!  I was so in control... so relaxed (I listened to the Labor
Companion throughout the L&D)... and I even smiled between the 5
pushes!!!

The nurses and doctor said, "This is what birth should be like."  When
I told the doc that I was listening to HypBirth, she asked to listen to
it and was really interested in it.

Oh... and no tearing.  I kept focused on my body and how I wanted to
open up and just let it happen.  What a difference from my other
births!!

Well, Anna is calling... I sure am in love!  She is such a sweet baby.
Hope you all have L&D's like this.  Thanks again,
Laurie
