Chase's Birth
So my water broke at 5:30am on May 2nd and I was having some good pressure
waves for a couple of hours after that, but as my midwife predicted, things
slowed down during the day. They started back up again after lunch, but nothing
regular so I just rested and tried to sleep. Around 6:30pm the pressure waves
started to come back and were becoming more regular and stronger.
As they intensified around 8:30, I called our midwife and told her that I
thought I needed to come to the birth center and so we left at 9pm and arrived
there at 9:30pm. At that time she checked me and I was 7cm dialated and 70%
effaced. I was also having really intense
back pressure in the lower part of my back. I wouldn't say it was painful, just
really uncomfortable so I headed for the birthing tub. Ahhhhh much better at
that point. Well, not too long after I got in the tub, maybe a half hour later,
as my midwife was just sitting on the birthing ball doing paperwork, I started
to feel pushy.
She was totally not prepared as I told her I could feel Chase coming and that
he was on his way out! She called for the other midwife and it was a good thing
she had because our dear son was born rather quickly and he had caught his cord
in the birth canal so they had to do cpr on him to help him remember how to
breathe. Thankfully he was quick to pink up and start breathing on his own. They
think he was born around 10:45pm(at least that's what they put as the time he
was born) but since everything happened so quickly they really hadn't looked at
the clock. I was on my hands and knees so I didn't see what was going on, but it
wasn't scary as our midwives are just awesome and they knew right what to do.
Having had our DD in a hospital, I was so glad to have this birth of our son at
a birthing center using Hypnobabies. It was just amazing and I feel like it was
a healing event for me. I will totally use Hypnobabies for any other children we
have and I love sharing my story with other ladies who are in disbelief that you
can have a pain- free childbirth. Thank you ladies for your support and thanks
Kerry for creating Hypnobabies!
Chase Alexander was 7lbs, 12 oz, and 20in. long for those of you who like to
know the stats! =) He's such a calm and amazing baby!
My Best to all of you and Happy Birthing to those of you who have yet to meet
your precious little ones!
