Miranda's Birth Story
Miranda was born Friday, June 15th, six years and forty minutes
after her older sister! That was the first shock.
I woke about 2:30 am with contractions that I can only describe as
mild and crampy. They were different from what I had been
experiencing the weeks leading to this. I got up and started to
pack bags for myself and the kids.
I also timed my contractions to see how they were progressing. They
were 40 seconds long and five minutes apart. Not unbearable at all!
At 4:30 my husband woke and I told him this was it... but continued
to time contractions and keep busy cleaning and packing. Finally, I
called the hospital and they advised that I should just come in to
be checked.
We took time getting the girls up and bringing them to my mom's. We
arrived at the hospital about 6:55am.
The nurse was wonderful! She led me right to the waterbirth room.
I had provided a birth plan previously explaining how I had hoped to
experience labor. She was following my plans by filling the tub
before I got there--due to my previous fast deliveries.
The doctor checked my cervix and I was 7cm! I couldn't believe
it... I was stunned. My previous birth experiences were fast and
furious! I was screaming my 7 cm in my other births.
The doctor broke my water to check the fluid. The contractions
continued to be bearable. I was now breathing and visualized God by
by side through each contraction. I prepared myself for this
delivery by reading a lot in the Bible. I used the Lord is my
Shepherd Psalm to help myself trust that God would help me through
this. I didn't have money to purchase the Hypnobabies program, so I
used this instead. And it worked!
I'm not sure of when I got in the tub, but it was wonderful when I
got in. The contractions came stronger and she was delivered
finally in the water at 7:35am.
I was in shock at how easy and wonderful the experience was. I said
that was Awesome! The baby was 6 pounds 6 ounces. I got to hold
her for a few minutes in the tub before getting out.
This is to be my last child. If I had a great job and more money, I
would say "let's have another".
Thanks for reading! I wanted to share how positive this was and
hopefully your birth experiences will be just as wonderful!
