Grace's Birth
Well here is everything. Since I think that the birth has just as much to do with the Mommy mindset I am going to include that too.
Tuesday afternoon I had my appointment with the mw. She said I was very stretchy and baby was low the signs looked good that I would go soon; she also stripped the membranes to help out.
Dh and I had plans to go to dinner, Italian, with DS so of we went. During dinner I felt twinge but not serious. I told DH and like a man he wanted to herd me towards the end result. He kept bothering me with question and what not. After dinner he got on the phone with his mother and tried to convince her to come over just in case. This was a lengthy conversation; he almost had to argue with her to get her to come. Everything is crazy, and I am frustrated and upset. My girlfriend calls and I get to sob my woes to her. I tell her that what I want is to be left alone and just get into my "zone" the way I did with my son's birth.
After I talk with her I go to sleep. DH comes to bed around 12:30. Afterwards I start to feel something happening, when I time them the pressure waves are about 7 minutes apart. No big deal. So I wander around, relax. Around 3am I tell DH to get up and time the pressure waves. I snooze between them, still around 6 min. Then about 4am something tells me this is serious and we need to get moving. DH finishes his shower, calls my girlfriends and types out instructions for his Mom. Luckily one gf lives down the street, she makes it in the door 4:20, I am shaking and throwing up water I drank earlier (Transition). Finally we are out the door and on the way to the hospital. DH drives like crazy to get me there.
We pull up to the ER and gf and I get out and walk in. I refuse I chair. At this point the pressure waves are almost on top of each other. I am managing them well with the help of the hypnosis scripts my friend is reading for me. The nurse comes down and takes us, including dh upstairs to the maternity ward. I manage with help to get my cloths off and into the gown. The nurse wants me to get on the bed so they can do the monitoring, but I can't everything is happening to fast. The nurse bless her soul, works with us and straps on the monitors while I am standing and even checks me like that (8cm and a bulging bag of waters). Ok she goes to get the antibiotics for the GBS. By the time she comes back in, my water has broken and the pressure is in my rear as I bear down uncontrollably for the baby. Dh is a rock I am standing and using him as support during each pressure wave.
When I tell everyone the baby is right there and they confirm, I am lifted on to the bed (same as last time) by dh. There is some sharp pain, when I tell the nurse to stop what she is doing she tells me it is the baby. Hearing that I relax completely, go limp. As I do her head pops out. My MW walks in the room to suction her out and catch her as the rest shoot out of me.
Baby girl left a small skid mark from her rapid exit, but that was it. I checked in to the hospital at 5:00 am and Grace came along 19 minutes later. Overall it was a great birth.
I know it is long and involved story I hope it is semi coherent, lack of sleep makes me crazy.
