My little bundle of joy has arrived! Our due date was February 25th
but Joely decided February 22 was the day she wanted to come! MY
water broke that morning at 2:50 am. I heard what sounded like a
water drip inside my belly and then I started leaking a little
water. I thought that wasn't my water was it? So I went to bed, then
I realized it was a little bit wetter than it should be, so I got my
hubby up and we began our Hypnobabies process.
We made brownies, I showered and called my doula. We packed the car
and decided to head out to the hospital at around 4:30am. I really
hadn't felt any discomfort but I put myself under and turned my
lightswitch to the center to get processed at the hospital.
By 9am I was dilated 4-5cm 100% effaced and -1 to -2
station...things really started to kick in. What I didn't know and my
nurses confirmed was my little Joely was sunny side up, which meant
back labor...I was really working my hypnosis and felt real good
about my coping with the back issues I was feeling. My doula rubbed
my back and my husband counter pressured on my tailbone. He later
told me he was pressing so hard on my back that he thought he may
crack my tailbone. I didn't fell him pressing hard at all. Matter of
fact I felt I needed him to press harder! It was pretty intense pain
in my back and by the time 6cm (at 11:15am) rolled around my body
was automatically trying to push! I couldn't stop the reaction my
body was having, it actually scared me a little. MY body was also
putting itself in so many odd positions trying to "run away" from
the back pain. The intensity was out of this world but I really
wanted to have my baby au natural and then the anesthesiologist came
in the room! He totally disregarded my sign on the door! MY doula
chased him out but not before he said he had been pacing in hallway
for the last two hours (by now it was probably 11am)because he had
never seen anyone endure back labor like me without anesthesia! So
far I am winning the game!By 12 I was at 8cm and by 12:30 I was at 9! I was moving very quickly in dilation and by 12:45 I was ready to push! Joely had turned sideways and decided that was the way she
wanted to come into this world! Thanks little one! Her Heart rate
dropped due to the fact that she was stuck, the doctor gave me a few
tries to push her out on my own but I could not push her passed the
spiney bones (it was like a dog trying to run through fence slats
with a stick). She finally had to use the suction on her because her
heart rate dropped into the 60's and did not recover as quick as she
had been. She said if the suction popped off 2 times I would have to
have a emergency c-section..NO WAY-I worked to hard to end up with a c-section and I was determined to have this baby naturally!!! So I pushed with all my might! Finally she came out at 1:50pm on that
same day! I did have to have an episiotomy but I ended up tearing
anyways (4th degree laceration) because of the way she came out.My labor was about 10 hours 50 mins, I accredit my Hypnobabies for my
determination and thought process to keep my cool when things got
tough and a positive mindset as well. If I hadn't had Hypnobabies for
my birthing prep I do not think I would have accomplished what I
have always dreamed of, having my baby naturally! I also was told
for most first babies my labor was really quick. So overall I am
pleased with the results of the program. I think if I had a normal
positioned baby, I would not have felt anything during labor. So to
all of you who are skeptical or afraid, you can do it too!!!!!
